Alpha’s Tamper-Resistant Prescription Pads Meet Medicaid Requirements
CMS (Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services) recently released guidance to State Medicaid agencies in regards to Federal legislation requiring use of tamper-resistant prescription pads. The law is intended to reduce occurrences of fraudulent and counterfeit prescriptions.
Effective April 1, 2008, a tamper-resistant Prescription Pad must contain at least one of the following:
*One or more industry-recognized features designed to prevent unauthorized copying of a completed or blank prescription form:

*One or more industry-recognized features designed to prevent the erasure or modification of information written on the prescription by the prescriber.
- Alpha – chemical protection paper on tamper-resistant Rx pads Reveals chemical attempts to alter; protects against removal of information
*one or more industry-recognized features designed to prevent the use of counterfeit prescription forms.
- Alpha – Micro Print on tamper-resistant Rx pads Security pattern of “original document” when magnified; verifies original document
